Beni Instagram'dan takip edenler bilir, yaz tatili için bu sene Rodos'a gittik sevdicekle. Bu postu da belki gitmek isteyenlere rehber olur diye yapmaya karar verdim. Rodos'a Marmaris'ten feribotla geçtik ve kapıda vize alarak içeri girdik. Bu işlemlerin hepsini önceden yapıyorsunuz. Kapıda vize olsa da feribot bileti aldığınız firmaya önceden evrakları gönderiyorsunuz.

If you are following me on Instagram, you might know that we went to Rhodes with my love for the holidays. So I've decided to write about it in case one of you might decide to go there. We went to Rhodes via Ferry from Marmaris.

Feribot denizin durumuna göre 45 dakika 1 saat gibi bir sürede Rodos'a varıyor. Şehre girerken sizi bu manzara karşılıyor. Adanın etrafı surlarla çevrili ve buram buram tarih kokuyor.

The ferry arrives there in approximately 45 minutes or 1 hour depending on the waves. While entering the city, this scene is welcoming you. The island is surrounded with these historical city walls.

Tabi bir de bu manzara var ki AB vatandaşı olmayanlar için tam bir işkence. Vizeyi önceden alsanız bile bu sırayı kontrol için beklemek durumundasınız ki o güneşin altında yarım saat bir saat beklemek tam bir işkence.
If you are not an EU citizen, it is a bit hard for you to get in because you have to wait for this line at least an hour under the sun.

Öncelikle şunu söyleyeyim, biz adanın 3 farklı yerinde 2şer gün kaldık. Rotamız Lindos, Faliraki ve Rodos Merkez. Ulaşım oldukça kolay. İlk durağımız Lindos'tu. Merkezden kalkan otobüse kişi başı 6 Euro ödeyerek 1 saat içinde ulaştık.

I must say that we have stayed 3 different locations on the island. Our route was as Lindos, Faliraki and Rhodes Centre. Transportation between the places is very easy. Our first stop was Lindos. We have taken the bus from the centre and we arrived to Lindos in approximately 1 hour and you only pay 6 Euro per person.

Lindos bizim en sevdiğimiz yer oldu. Çok güzel plajları olan ve oldukça sakin bir yer. Biraz Alaçatı'yı andırdı bize. Gündüz gezecek ne var derseniz, tarihi Lindos Kalesi var. Tepede olduğu için çıkışı biraz zor. Hatta bunun için eşekler kullanılıyor. Fakat en tepeye ulaştığınızda manzara gerçekten olağanüstü. Bu arada kaleye giriş de kişi başı 6 Euro.

Among the places we have been to, Lindos is our favorite. It has so beautiful beaches and it is a quiet place. Well what can you do during a day?You can take a trip to Lindos Castle. Since it is on a hill, you might find it hard to climb up however there are donkeys that you can ride. After you climb the hill, you realize that the landscape is breathtaking. The entrance fee is 6 Euro per person.

Kaleden görünen en güzel manzara da bu olsa gerek. Meşhur St.Paul Körfezi. Biz burada denize de girdik ama fotoğrafta yakın olan tarafın göründüğü kadar güzel olmadığını söyleyebilirim. Hem taşlı hem de plajı küçücük/insanlar dip dibe. Fakat karşı taraf çok çok güzel. En sevdiğimiz plajlardan biri oldu kendisi.

The best landscape of the castle might be this one: The famous St.Paul Bay. We have swum here but I can say that the part nearer in the photo is not good as seen. There are too many rocks in the sea and it is really crowded. However, the beach seen across is much more beautiful.

Gittiğimiz tüm plajlarda 2 şezlong 1 şemsiye gün boyu 8 Euro idi.

In every beach, you pay 8 Euro for an umbrella and two sunbeds.

Bir başka plajda oldukça büyük olan Lindos Plajı. Buranın bir özelliği yok ama geniş olsun ferah olsun derseniz burayı tercih edin derim.

Another beach is the biggest one in Lindos: Lindos Beach. It has nothing in special but if you want to swim and sunbath in a large area, you might prefer this one.

Peki başka nereyi gezebilirim diyorsanız, daracık Lindos sokakları içinde karşınıza beyaz şöyle bir kilise çıkıyor.
And what else you can do is to take a trip in Lindos streets and visit this church.

Dışarıdan sıradan bir kilise gibi dursa da içerisi oldukça ihtişamlı. Duvarlarında hiç boş yer yok ve dolayısıyla nereye bakacağınızı şaşırıyorsunuz. İçeride fotoğraf çekmek yasak olduğu için hiç fotoğraf yok ama bence kesinlikle görülmesi gereken bir yer.
It looks like a regular church but it is really magnificent inside. All the walls are full of religious paintings. Taking photo is forbidden inside, so I couldn't take a photo but you must visit it.

Peki akşam oldu şimdi ne yapalım derseniz, güzelce giyinip akşamları oldukça canlı ve kalabalık olan Lindos sokaklarına atın kendinizi. Aşağıdaki fotoğrafta saat henüz erken olduğu için pek dolmamıştı ama ilerleyen saatlerde yürüyecek yer dahi bulamayabilirsiniz. Minik olmasına rağmen oldukça renkli bir gece hayatı var. Geceye dair niye hiç fotoğraf çekmemişim bilemiyorum ama Lindos kesinlikle bizim favorimiz oldu.

What can you do for the evening is you can dress up and go out to Lindos streets which are very crowded at night. The photo was taken in an early hour so that there wasn't any crowd yet. Though it is a small town, it has a vibrant nightlife.

Peki ne yiyelim derseniz, Lindos'ta krepçiler çok meşhur. Her yerde bu krepçilerden var ve envai çeşit krep yapıyorlar. After eight'li, Raffaelolu krepler bile yapıyorlar. İsteyenler için tuzlu çeşitler de var tabii ki.
If you ask for what to eat, crepes are famous in Lindos as much as I see. There are many crepe places and you can choose among the variety of the crepes. They even make crepes with After Eight or Raffaelo. Of course, there are savoury options too.

Bunların dışında bir de "gyros" var ki aslında bizim bildiğimiz döner fakat içine "tzatziki" dedikleri bizim cacığın yoğun kıvamlı halini koyuyorlar. Ben gerçekten bayıldım bu lezzete. Hatta 7 gün boyunca bununla beslendim diyebilirim. İsteyenler için kuzu, tavuk ve domuz çeşitleri bulunuyor.

Apart from these, there is "gyros" which is very similar to "Turkish doner". I really like this one because they add "tzatziki" in it. You can choose among the lamb, chicken and pork options.

Yerel olarak ne yiyebiliriz derseniz Yunan yemekleri Türk yemeklerine aşırı benziyor. Normalde gittiğim ülkenin her yemeğini denemek isterim ama bu benzerlik dolayısıyla biz her şeyi deneme moduna girmedik. Zira "Mousakka", "dolmades" gibi yemekler benim çok sevdiğim yiyecekler olmadığı için deneme gereği de duymadım.

The Greek Food is very similar to Turkish Food. I like to try every taste of the country that I visit however because of the similarity, I didn't do it this time. Because I am not a very big fan of the Turkish version of "Mousakka" or "Dolmades".

Bu arada hediyelik eşya alacaksanız Lindos bizim gittiğimiz diğer yerlere göre biraz pahalı. Hele fazlaca hediye alacaksanız, merkezden almanızı tavsiye ederim.

By the way, if you are willing to buy something like souvenirs, I recommend you to buy it from the centre since Lindos is much more expensive compared to the centre.

Geldik ikinci durağımıza. Yine Lindos'tan bindiğimiz bir otobüsle yaklaşık yarım saat içinde Faliraki'ye ulaştık. Gezdiğimiz yerler içinde en beğenmediğimiz ve en sıkıldığımız yer burasıydı. Ben burayı da biraz Alanya'ya benzettim ki hiç sevmem Alanya'yı.

Our second stop was Faliraki. We took the bus from Lindos and reached Faliraki in half an hour. We didn't like this place and we were so much bored here.

Tek olumlu yanı buranın plajlarıydı. İlk gün çoook meşhur olan Anthony Quinn Körfezi'ne gittik. Sizi şöyle bir manzara karşılıyor:
The best thing about Faliraki was the beaches. On the first day, we went to the famous beach: Anthony Quinn Bay. The landscape over here is:

Görüntü ve deniz suyu sıcaklığı muhteşem olmasına rağmen kumsal olmadığı, çok kalabalık olduğu ve çok fazla kayalık olduğu için burada fazla kalmadan az ilerisindeki Ladiko Plajı'na gittik ve burası bizim favorimiz oldu.

The sightseeing and the sea water temperature was the best however it was not a sandy beach and it was very crowded even though it is very small. We didn't stay there much and went to Ladiko Beach near to Anthony Quinn Bay.

 

Gelelim gece hayatına. Faliraki'nin gece hayatı daha renkli gibi geldi bana tabii bu eğlenceden ne anladığınıza göre de değişir. Mesela Lindos'taki mekanlar bana göre daha güzel ve daha nezihti. Burada ise o kaliteyi bulamadım. Bu yüzden biz geceleri yalnızca yürüdük sokakta sevdicekle. Bir yerde oturup bir şey içmedik. Sokak oldukça kalabalık oluyor akşam. Bizim otelimiz çok merkezi idi. İlk başta güzel bir özellik sanmıştık bu durumu ama gece 4'e kadar siz uyumaya çalışırken bangır bangır müzik sesleri gelince çok da hoş olmuyor. O yüzden oteli seçerken dikkatli olmak da fayda var.

The nightlife over here looks more fun but of course it depends on your way of having fun. For example, I like Lindos nightlife more because I think that it was more decent. So, we only walked through the streets in Faliraki. The streets are really crowded in the evening. Our hotel was located in the centre however we didn't like it because, while trying to sleep at night, it was not possible because of the noise outside.

Ve gelelim son durağımıza: Rodos merkez. Diğer yerlere göre burada çok daha fazla gezilecek yer var tabii. Öncelikle eski şehre girmek için geniş surlarda bulunan çeşitli kapılardan geçebilirsiniz. 

Coming to the last stop: Rhodes Centre. There are much more places to visit over here. First of all, you can pass through the historical city walls to reach the old city centre.

Eski şehirde her şeyden önce "Palace of the Grand Master of Knights of Rhodes" adlı kale görülmesi gereken en önemli yerlerden. Zaten oldukça görkemli olan bu yapıda şövalyelere ait eşyalar sergileniyor.

In the old city, the first place to visit is "Palace of the Grand Master of Knights of Rhodes". Things belong to Rhodes Knights are being displayed here.

Eski şehir içindeki Hipokrat Meydanı önemli noktalarından birisi. Eski bir ortaçağ şehri olduğu en çok bu noktada anlaşılıyor sanırım.

Hippocrates Square is one of the important places in the old city. This part of the city proves that Rhodes is an antique medieval city.

Burada bir de Osmanlı zamanında kalma cami ve kütüphane yer alıyor.
There are also a mosque and a library left by the Ottomans.

Kütüphane Hafız Ahmet Ağa diye biri tarafından yaptırılmış. İçeride Osmanlıca ve Arapça eserler sergileniyor.
The Library has been established by Hafiz Ahmet Aga. There are Ottoman and Arabic books displayed.

Tabii Rodos, şövalyeleri ile ünlü bir yer olunca şehrin her yerinde de böyle dükkanlar yer alıyor.

Since Rhodes is famous with their knights, it is possible to see souvenir shops like these everywhere.

 Eski şehir içinde bir de saat kulesi var. İsterseniz belli bir ücret karşılığı en tepeye çıkıp Rodos'u izleyebiliyorsunuz.
There is also a clock tower in the old city. You can go up there and see the city with bird's eye perspective.

Karnımız acıkınca deniz ürünleri yemeden olmaz dedik ve daha önce Löplöpçüler'in blogunda gördüğüm The Sea Star Taverna'yı deneyelim dedik. Tavsiye üzerine bebek kalamar ve ahtapot ve ortaya da Yunan salatası aldık. Ahtapotu çok beğendiğim söylenemez ama kalamarlar bir harikaydı diyebilirim.

We were hungry and we wanted to try sea food in Rhodes so we have decided to go to The Sea Star Taverna which is located in the old city. We have ordered baby calamari and octopus and also a Greek Salad. I didn't like octopus so much but the calamari was delicious.

Eski şehri bitirdikten sonra sahil kenarından yürümeye başladık ve arkeoloji müzesi ile karşılaştık. Fakat artık çok yorulduğumuz için  buranın içini gezemedik. (Not: Umarım fotoğraf doğrudur. Aradan zaman geçince biraz unutmuş olabilirim :)

After visiting every place in the old town, we have started to walk by the sea shore and we have come upon the Archeological Museum. However we were too much tired so we didn't get in. (I hope this is the right photo for the Archeological Museum :)

Bir de adanın girişinde şöyle bir heykel var ki Rodos'un simgesi olmuş. 

And there is also such a statue which is also a symbol of Rhodes.

Son olarak gezebileceğiniz bir yer de Rodos'un tam ucunda yer alan Akvaryum. Yanlış hatırlamıyorsam giriş yine kişi başı 6 Euro idi. Dış görünüşünü çekmemişim fakat internetten bulduğum görüntüyü koyuyorum.

Lastly, one of the places you can visit is the Aquarium which is located in the northernmost corner of the Rhodes. Entrance fee is 6 Euro per person. I haven't taken a photo from the outside of the aquarium but I found a photo from Google.

İçi gerçekten güzel yapılmış. Bir çok balık türünü görmek mümkün.
Inside of the aquarium is really nice. You can see a variety of fish over here.

Yiyeceklere değindik biraz da içeceklere değinelim. Öncelikle her türlü birayı denedik. Mythos bizim damak tadımıza pek uymadı. Ballı gibi bir tadı vardı. Ama onun dışında Alfa'yı oldukça beğendik. Bir de ismini okuyamasam da Rodos'ta üretilen bu sarı ambalajlı birayı da beğendik.

We have talked about the food so let's talk about the drinks a bit. First of all, we have tried all the beers here. We didn't like Mythos so much because it was kind of sweetened with honey. But Alfa and this yellow beer which is produced in Rhodes are really good.

Bir de bu kokteyllerden buldum ve bayıldım. Keşke Türkiye'de de olsa.

I have also tried these cocktail drinks and like them so much. I wish they were sold in Turkey too.

 Şaraplar da fena değildi. Tatlı olmayanlar dışında içtiğimiz şarapları beğendik.

 Wines are also good. We kind of like all of them except the sweet ones.

  Bir de bir kahve bağımlısı olarak adada en dikkat çektiğim şey soğuk kahvelerin çok meşhur olmasıydı. Herkesin elinde mutlaka bir soğuk kahve oluyordu. Bu durum tabii ki en çok benim işime yaradı :)

As a coffee addict, what I like most about the island was that the cold coffees were really famous here :)

  Kaldığımız otelin yeri biraz kötü olmasına rağmen manzarası muhteşemdi. Günleri şu manzarada uğurladık :)

Even though the location of our hotel was not good, there was a wonderful sunset scene.

 Peki Rodos'tan neler alınır derseniz bir kere Uzo kesinlikle birinci sırada. Arkadaşlara magnetler dışında bir de şövalye figürlü bir şeyler olmazsa olmaz. Ben abur cubur canavarı olduğum için burada bulamadığım tüm Oreoları ve bitki çaylarını da aldım tabii. Bunun dışında Yunan kahvesi ve Lokum da aldık merak ettiğim için. Yunan kahvesinin Türk kahvesinden hiçbir farkı yok ama lokum o kadar kötü ki. Anason kokuyor buram buram. Hiç yiyemeden atıldı maalesef.

So, what can you buy from Rhodes as a souvenir? I think Ouzo comes on the top of the list. Magnets for friends and knight figures  are also a good alternative. Because I like junk food so much, I have bought all kinds of Oreos and herbal teas that I can't find in my country. Apart from these, we have also bought Greek Coffee and Loukumi but I didn't like the Loukimi since it has an aniseed flavor in it. Greek Coffee is like Turkish Coffee so I like it.

 

Bir yaz tatili de böyle güzel anılarla sonlanmış oldu. Çok beğendiğimiz Rodos'u  herkese tavsiye ederim.

A summer holiday with full of memories ended like this. I recommend you to visit Rhodes because it is really nice place to visit.
